Yes. Basalt is built on Squarespace 7.1, so you need your own Squarespace plan to publish your site. That subscription is paid to Squarespace and is not included in the template price.
Yes — all of it. Text, images, colours, fonts and the order of sections are edited in Squarespace’s normal editor. Nothing is locked and no code is required.
No. The hard part — layout, spacing, type and hierarchy — is already decided. Your job is to swap the demo projects and copy for your own.
Yes. If you would rather it was installed, styled around your brand and filled with your projects, we do that as a separate service — get in touch and we will scope it.

Each project gets its own case-study page: a full-width hero image, the brief, room-by-room photography and the materials story, ending with a route to enquire. The demo shows the structure filled in — you duplicate a project page in Squarespace and replace the content for each new project.
Yes. Project pages are normal Squarespace pages, so you can launch with two or three strong case studies and duplicate the layout each time you finish a new project. Three well-told projects convert better than twelve thin galleries.

Instead, your purchase gives you a brand-new Squarespace site with Basalt fully installed, delivered as a private invitation to your email. You move your content across at your own pace, then point your domain at the new site when you’re ready. Your existing site stays live and untouched until the moment you switch, so there’s no downtime.
A free Squarespace template is a starting layout — one or two pages of stock placeholders that you design the rest of the site around yourself. Basalt is a finished, art-directed website: seven page types already designed as a coherent whole, with the typography, spacing, image treatment and section order decided by a professional designer for interior design and architecture studios specifically.
